At College Unbound, your degree is designed to be as transformative as it is practical. CU’s single-major inOrganizational Leadership and Change ensures that you gain deep, focused knowledge in an area of study that can be applied to a range of professional settings, while building the skills, confidence, and leadership needed to drive meaningful transformation in your life, work, and community.
Through a liberal arts curriculum, students develop lifelong learning skills, engage in action research projects, and build competencies essential for personal and professional growth.
The academic calendar includes fall, spring, and optional summer terms, with two credit track options:
10/9/6 Track: 12 credits each fall and spring, with an optional summer term.
10/9/6 Track: 9 credits each in fall and spring, plus a 6-credit summer term.

Your Project – The central focus of College Unbound’s student-initiated curriculum is the Workplace and World Lab, where students develop and implement a project based on their passion and interests. Students develop projects around community concerns, entrepreneurial businesses, workplace initiatives, or social ventures. This project is at the center of your College Unbound degree – all of your learning at College Unbound is in service of advancing your project.
Your Major | 33 Credit Hours – Your major is about acquiring a depth of knowledge in leadership and change. At College Unbound, the major requirements mean that you can use concepts and methods from the study of leadership, organizations, and change to develop yourself and others, lead change, and transform organizations and communities. In your major, you have eight required courses and three required areas.
General Education | 40 Credit Hours – General education is about acquiring a breadth of knowledge. At College Unbound, the General Education requirements mean you can use concepts and methods from the liberal arts to interpret experience, make meaning, and act in the world. We divide the liberal arts into four areas at CU: civics, arts and humanities, science and math, and social and behavioral science. Each area has two to four requirements.
Electives | 37 Credit Hours – Free electives allow you to pursue current or discover new interests or advance knowledge related to your professional goals
Big 10 Transformational Leadership and Change Competencies – The Big 10 Transformational Leadership and Change Competencies are integral to CU’s Bachelor’s Degree in Organizational Leadership and Change. Students submit a portfolio for each Big 10 to showcase their transformational leadership skills. These portfolios are assessed by CU Lab Faculty and Assessment Specialists using Big 10 Rubrics. Portfolios are assessed for credit or sent back to the student for revisions.
