Position Summary:
Reporting to the Director of Instructional Faculty Development & Innovation, the Learning Systems Specialist manages, maintains, and supports our Moodle-based LMS, as well as collaborates with faculty, students, and staff to design, implement, and evaluate effective and accessible instructional technologies and design. The Learning Systems Specialist will play a critical role in enhancing our digital learning environment and supporting innovative teaching practices across the institution.

Duties and Responsibilities
• Administer and maintain the Moodle LMS, including system updates, user management, plugins, course creation, and troubleshooting.
• Collaborate with faculty and staff to design, develop, and implement instructional materials and technology solutions that support and enhance teaching and learning.
• Conduct training sessions and workshops for students, faculty and staff on effective use of the LMS and other instructional technologies.
• Provide instructional design support to faculty in synchronous and asynchronous online courses.
• Provide technical support and assistance to faculty, staff, and students in the use of the LMS and instructional technologies.
• Develop and maintain documentation, processes, and support resources related to the LMS and instructional technologies.
• Evaluate, recommend, pilot, and implement new instructional technologies and tools that align with the organization's goals and objectives.
• Monitor and analyze LMS usage and performance data to identify trends, inform decision-making, and ensure continuous improvement.
• Collaborate with other parts of the organization to ensure a seamless user experience and to address any issues that arise.
• Stay current with emerging trends and best practices in instructional technology and LMS administration.
Requirements
Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Instructional Technology, Educational Technology, information technology or a related field; or comparable experience to demonstrate proficiency in educational technology and additionally listed skills
• 1 - 3 years or more of working on the back-end of an LMS and managing an LMS.
• Intermediate experience in using and supporting various instructional technologies and tools, such as, multimedia authoring tools, web conferencing platforms, and content management systems.
• Beginner to intermediate knowledge of instructional design principles and learning theories.
• Beginner to intermediate knowledge of universal design for learning, accessibility and usability standards in digital learning environments.
• Strong communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to effectively manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Experience working with diverse adult populations
• Willingness to ask for help and guidance when needed.
• Familiarity and experience with badging, badge systems or other forms of micro-credentialing.
• Be geographically close to Providence, RI or Philadelphia, PA for (estimated 50%) hybrid work.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience in higher education or training settings in other contexts.
• Knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript for web-based content creation.
• Familiarity with SCORM, xAPI, or other eLearning standards.
• Experience with other LMS platforms, such as Canvas, Blackboard, or Brightspace.
• Certifications in instructional design, eLearning development, or related areas.
